Optovue RTVue Optical Coherence Tomographer
(FourierDomain OCT)

Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) is a non-invasive diagnostic technique that renders an in vivo cross sectional view of the retina. Spectral domain OCT scans approximately 20,000-40,000 scans per second and may approach 3 micron resolution. OCT is useful in the diagnosis of many retinal conditions including macular holes, macular pucker, vitreomacular traction, macular edema, detachments of the neurosensory retina and retinal pigment epithelium (e.g. central serous retinopathy or age-related macular degeneration) OCT is also used when evaluating optic nerve disorders such as glaucoma. OCT can accurately and reproducibly evaluate the nerve fiber layer thickness. In addition, images of the anterior segment (cornea, anterior chamber, iris and angle) can be visualized.


 
Konan Specular Microscope

The Konan Specular Microscope is used to assess the health of the corneal endothelial cells, which are critical to maintaining a clear healthy cornea. These cells can be damaged from contact lens wear and genetic conditions such as Fuch's Dystrophy.


 
Haag-Streit Octopus 300 Perimeter

The Haag-Streit Octopus 300 Perimeter is a state-of-the-art instrument that measures the eye's sensitivity to light at multiple points in the visual field. It is primarily used to diagnose and manage glaucoma, other diseases affecting the optic nerve and visual pathways to the brain, and central retinal disorders.


 
Topcon KR8000PA Auto refractor/keratometer/topographer

The Topcon KR8000PA instrument obtains a close estimate of your eyeglass prescription, measures the primary curvature of your cornea and can also measure a topographic map of your conreal curvatures to diagnose distortions and disease states that may be interfering with clear vision.


 
Diopsys NOVA Visual Evoked Potential and Electroretinographer (VEP & ERG)

The Diopsys NOVA VEP system measures the electronic visual evoked response along the visual pathway from your retina, through your optic nerve all the way to the visual cortex in the back of your brain. It is used to deteect neurological abnormalities of the visual system.

The Diopsys NOVA ERG system measures the electronic retinal response to visual stimuli. It is used to help diagnose retinal disease and side effects of medications that may cause retinal damage.


 
Canon CR-DGI Fundus Camera with Synemed Software

The Canon CR-DGI Fundus Camera obtains digital photographs of the retina, macula and optic nerve to help manage and diagnose diseases such as glaucoma, macular degeneration, and diabetic retinopathy. Comparisons can easily be made to monitor progression or improvements in disease states. "A picture is worth a thousand words."


 
Huvitz Electronic Refraction System

The Huvitz Electronic Refraction system is a state-of-the-art system to determine and fine tune your eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions. It is a modern, electronically controlled version of the "which is better - 1 or 2" method of determining a patient's refractive state.


 
Huvitz Lensmeter

The Huvitz Lensmeter is a state-of-the-art electronic device that measures the lens power of your current glasses as well as the ultraviolet (UV) transmittance.


 
Huvitz HRK 7000A Auto refractor/keratometer

The Huvitz HRK 7000A instrument obtains a close estimate of your eyeglass prescription and measures the primary curvatures of your cornea to help determine your eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions.

Marco-Nidek RT5100 Electronic Refraction System

The Marco-Nidek RT5100 Electronic Refraction system is a state-of-the-art system to determine and fine tune your eyeglass and contact lens prescriptions. It is a modern, electronically controlled version of the "which is better - 1 or 2" method of determining a patient's refractive state.

 
 
Smart Mirror

The Smart Mirror system takes digital photos and measurements of patients for proper frame and lens alignment and to aid in frame selection. It is especially useful for patients with poor vision without glasses to aid in selecting frames. You can see the digital photos in clear focus.

 
 
Macular Densitometer

This non-invasive test measures your macular pigment optical density, (MPOD). Your macular pigment is a layer within your retina that protects your delicate retinal cells from damage from the sun, toxins, and blue light given off by LED light bulbs, computer monitors, cell phones, TVs, and tablets. Low MPOD levels also contribute to poor visual contrast and glare. If you have low MPOD you are at higher risk of progressing or developing macular degeneration and we have treatment options to protect your eyes from the long term damage of blue light and oxidation.

 
 
ClearPath DS-120

Today, half of Americans are diabetic or pre-diabetic. We are the first in Connecticut to offer a revolutionary FDA cleared diabetes screener that is more sensitive and more specific than current blood tests. The ClearPath DS-120 measures changes in the crystalline lens of your eye that occur with alteration of glucose metabolism and will provide a longer term assessment of glucose control in diabetics and may predict onset of diabetes up to 7 years before it occurs for those at risk.

 
 
The OCULUS Keratograph® 5M

The OCULUS Keratograph® 5M is an advanced corneal topographer and a color camera optimized for external imaging. In addition, it allows extensive dry eye evaluations including examination of the meibomian glands, non-invasive tear film break-up time, the tear meniscus height measurement and evaluating the lipid layer of the tears.

 
 
OptikamPad

The Optikam Pad and E-Y Stick technology utilizes an Apple ipad based application to more precisely measure and design eyewear. With a single image it can measure frame and patient PDs, seg heights, pantoscopic tilt, and frame wrap – allowing the full benefits of today’s personalized, high definition lenses.
